Thanks Mr. Vonnegut

A quick note with sadness on the passing of Kurt Vonnegut Jr., undoubtedly my favorite author. It began when a few of us passed around a dog-eared copy of Cat's Cradle in high school like it was some forbidden sleazy novel. I think I probably have every one of his books and what's really more important have read every one but maybe one of the later ones, which now I'll obviously have to do.

It's strange that I was always a lover of science fiction, but never really considered the books science fiction. They were more like an extension of reality that better explained what was really going on in this world.

Anyway, I'll miss you. It's notable that you left us the day before what I heard today is officially "Drop everything and read" book. I guess in your inimitable way you did. Thank you for all the good reading.
